Conductors

Deb Muir – Training Band and Intermediate Band

Deb is a trained teacher who has been teaching private music lessons for over 20 years to many different age groups and love the interactions will all of her students. She has lived in many places both in Australia and overseas and has been fortunate to experience many different music teaching styles. She teaches piano, clarinet, saxophone and flute.

Why music?

Music provides us all such amazing experiences. It is a fun and fulfilling experience helps build and strengthen our brains particularly our memory. Music involves both left and right sides of the brain It’s a rewarding endeavour.

 

Dave Odams – Senior Band and Jazz Band

Dave is a multi-instrumental brass performer, teacher and conductor with over 30 years experience. He began his musical journey by learning the trombone in Mansfield, England, and performed at national level on trombone (National Youth Jazz Orchestra). He also took up the tuba before leaving school and then moved to London for further study. Playing euphonium, trumpet and sousaphone came later and he spent 16 years in London performing in a huge range of big bands, orchestras, brass ensembles and pop/soul bands. Since moving to Sydney in 2011 with his wife and 2 children he has been a full time brass tutor and conductor, mainly located in the Normanhurst, Thornleigh and Pennant Hills area. Aside from conducting and tutoring he still finds time to perform with local brass bands, big bands and his own New Orleans jazz band, The Blue Tongue Brass Band. ​​​
